Abstract

The Building Construction industry presents difficulties in adopting new technologies due to factors inherent to the sector and grate variety of activities involved, among other barriers. Efforts of researchers and professionals to reverse this trend have been considerable. In this sense, some technologies used in other industries have shown viable, for example, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) may boost the modernization process, contributing at all stages of construction. RA is a type of RV that deserves attention due to the ease of application and reduced demand on powerful hardware, since, instead of requiring the creation of fully synthetic worlds, inserts virtual elements in the real-world view to improve understanding and communication of information. This technology can, among other benefits, contribute to the visualization of users needs observed by Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) procedures, aiming to improve future projects and give feedback to the decisions making process of similar building solutions. The main objective of this research project is to propose the use of Mobile Augmented Reality as a resource supporting POE studies in social housing emphasizing reforms identifications undertaken by the users. The research is exploratory and will compare collected data and procedures of POE visits to housing projects and will evaluate the use of this technology, focusing on the improvement and feedback process of POE.
