Abstract In this Project, the Student will be trained on sample handling used to determine the cadmium in aqueous solutions by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS), aiming to determine cadmium biosorption by Saccharomyces cerevisiae dead cells immobilized into 3 different supports (Sodium alginate, citric pectin and quitosana), different pHs (4,0; 7,0 e 9,0). The candidate also will be doing the support columns, cadmium stock solutions, sample collecting, protein analysis, thermic post-treatment cells viability (killing cells before immobilization), data collected and further analysis. During the project execution, the student will participate in the experimentation process, evolving ideal residence time, column saturation, recuperation methodologies for the different systems, size of spheres into the supports (volume/contact area relations) and she will be trained on the use of the AAS equipment, as well as bibliographic research on area studied. | |
