Abstract

The thermal properties of panels with braided bamboo, plastered externally with plaster and then painted used as a seal housing will be determined in laboratory. The thermal resistance will be determined by passing a steady state heat flux through a serial array of a plate material of known thermal properties and the panel under test. The properties related to thermal inertia (time lag, decrement factor and heat capacity) will be calculated using a method derived from the flash method standardized by ASTM E1461 - 07, involving the analogy with electrical RC circuits. The results obtained in the laboratory will be used as input in the NBR 15220 - part 2, to verify the convergence of both the methods. Parallel to the laboratory activities, panels similar to those studied will be monitored in a house in which they are used as exterior wall. The goal of this last part is, again, to check the convergence of the results obtained in laboratory, from the application of NBR 15220 and measured in the field. (AU)
