Abstract

Many stallions stop reproducing earlier because of fertility problems. Besides, there are still few studies about reproductive stallion recovery when there isn´t any possibilities to obtain its semen, and so the ability of testicular tissue preservation for varied intervals is an essential step for its use on emergent reproductive technologies (Abrishami et al., 2010). To the aim of studying the cryopreservation of normospermic testicular tissue for preservation, maintenance and restoration of in vitro spermatogenesis, ten adults stallions with clinically normal testicles will be selected. These animals will be castrated and their testicles submitted to multiple biopsies. The specimens of testicular tissues will be cryopreserved in 06 different protocols and then thawing and evaluated for their structural integrity with phase-contrast Hoffman illumination, conventional histology and transmission electron microscopy.
