Abstract

The increase concern about the environment and the search for clean technologies has stimulated the isolation and study of microorganisms producers keratinase. As properties of theses enzymes seem to differ according of the producer microorganism, is important isolated and select microorganisms that produce keratinolytic enzymes more resistant, stables and specific to be applied in industrial process. The properties of these enzymes seem to differ according to species of microorganism producer, it is important to isolate and select strains that produce keratinolytic enzymes more resistant, thermostable and specific to be applied in many industrial processes. The objective of this project is to study two strains isolated from wastewater chicken analyzing the potential of those in synthesizing the enzyme keratinase and degrade chicken feathers. The strain that present greater potential for use in biotechnological processes will be identified. (AU)
