Abstract

Data integration has been the focus of a lot of attention in academia and industry. Although there are a number of approaches proposed in the literature that investigate data integration and data provenance separately, few of them consider both in the same setting. Also, existing approaches face two main drawbacks. Firstly, they do not offer functionalities related to the reproduction of user's integration decisions, especially when the integration process is not allowed to update source data directly. Secondly, these approaches are not able to be executed in the cloud, as well as are not able to collect provenance data from applications available in the cloud. Aiming at addressing these drawbacks, it is being under development by the research group headed by the supervisor of this project the PrInt model, a novel model that uses provenance data to improve integration processes that cannot update source data directly. However, the PrInt model does not focus on cloud computing. In this research project, we address this issue by proposing to adapt the PrInt model to the cloud, especially taking into account the storage of user's integration decisions.
