Abstract

Bibliometric studies constitute themselves into a set of laws that study the behavior of recorded knowledge, using indicators that use the measurements, statistical and technological resources, in order to analyze and evaluate the production of knowledge in different areas. Among the indicators stand out indicators of scientific collaboration and coauthorship. Thus, this research aims to map the networks of scientific collaboration using journal articles in the field of information science in Brazil. More specifically seeks to identify the communities that form the basis of thematic similarities and relations established by coauthorship, examining the same in different fields: domestic and international, especially the most productive authors in different themes, which contribute for the construction of scientific knowledge in the area of Information Science. As research procedures will be reviewed articles published in major Brazilian journals of the area in the period 2006-2009, using bibliometric studies in their output indicators and links. To organize the data will be used as Microsoft Excel and the construction of networks of scientific collaboration among researchers, will be used by the software Pajek. To calculate the network indicators, such as density, degree of centralization, degree of interference and degree of proximity, it will use the Software Ucinet in order to provide a more accurate depth of the reality studied. It is hoped that this study delineate the networks of collaboration through coauthorship in different subfields of information science in Brazil and the communities that are formed on the basis of thematic similarities.
