Abstract

The vast majority of tireodectomias are performed under general anesthesia, although some authors describe this surgery with locoregional anesthesia associated with sedation of the patient. General Anesthesia(GA) is the reversible alteration of synaptic transmission and the physical-chemical behavior of the membranes of the central nervous system caused by drugs and the vast majority of cases the patient is intubated and placed on ventilation support, while Loco-regional Anesthesia (LA) is the loss of sensitivity in a localized region of the body without loss of consciousness or impairment of the central control of vital functions. The present work intends to perform a comparative analysis between GA and LA tireodectomia surgeries in order to evaluate the best strategy to adopt to reduce surgical risk, surgical time, and hospital stay. Surveys of medical and surgical procedures, focusing on the comparative time of surgery, drugs used, length of hospital stay, and age will be conducted. The results will be analyzed in order to evaluate the most cost-effective hospital-patient dyad.(AU)
