Abstract In this project we intend to analyze, through reflections of music and journalism, Ariel - Musical Culture Magazine and the work of writer and musicologist Mário de Andrade. The periodic circulated between 1923 and 1924, a period of great ferment of modern ideas in Sao Paulo, of which Mario de Andrade and the magazine's employees colluded. Sought to convey the musical trends and news of that context, in order to disseminate culture through music in it's current production. The importance of this work focus involves the study of the relevance of music journalism to understand the aesthetic of music, the prominent position that magazine had in the period of Modernism, the lack of theories or research about the Ariel and the availability of rich collection literature at the Institute of Brazilian Studies. | |
