Abstract

This project shows study of the Food Acquisition Program of (PAA) in Presidente Prudente (Sao Paulo), in particular the mode "Buy a family agriculture with simultaneous donation", which is operated in the city since the year 2009. The farmers were organized into cooperatives and sold the food produced to CONAB (National Supply Company), which got them to donate to local social projects, organizations and families in victual situations of insurance members of the Unified Register of Social Programs Federal Government. This research will involve a theoretical reflection on public policies for family farming and the discussions about the importance of food production in relation to food safety. We intend to inquire how is the operation of the EAP in the city of Presidente Prudente and the difficulties experiencing, and the effects that the program has managed for small farmers and for entities and families who has received food from the program. To achieve this aim in addition to the literature review and analysis of secondary data, conducting field work, where we will have the opportunity to interview the members and producers that are part of the EAP in the city, as well as those responsible for organs such as the CATI (Coordination of Integral Technical Assistance) and COMSA (City Council Food Safety) linked to the program.
