Abstract

The research to be developed during the pos-doctorate period in the Art Institute of Unesp proposes to continue and expand the collaborative research in the area of dance/history/memory developed in the doctorate. The project aims to document part of the history of contemporary dance in the city of São Paulo, based on the record of testimonies of dancer-creators of a specific generation. The methodology used for analysis of the testimonies from the selected artists for this research will use the bibliography of authors that revisit and update the history of dance: Banes (2007), Burt (2004), Carter (2004), Cohen (1992), Copeland (1983), Garafola (2005), Jowitt (2005), Layson (1994) and Louppe (2007). Besides these authors, others that also deal with the issue of memory, forgetfulness and documental recording will also be used, such as: Agamben (2008), Dupuy (2007), Launay (2007), Meneses (2007), Rousier & Sebillotte (2004). The whole of the documented material will be edited and will result in the production of a video-documentary and of a printed publication. This scientific production will be distributed to university libraries and dance archives in the country. It is expected that the conclusion of this research project may contribute not only with the history of São Paulo's dance but also of Brazilian dance. (AU)
