Abstract

This research proposal has as objective to study the anelastic properties of titanium alloys (Ti-Nb-Zr) with potential for biomedical applications by the mechanical spectroscopy technique. An application for a scientific initiation scholarship of FAPESP is associated with this project. The means of this proposal will be given continuity to anelastic relaxation studies in metallic materials of the Physical Metallurgy and Mechanical Spectroscopy Group in the Department of Physics of the Federal University of São Carlos. The anelastic behavior and Young modulus of the Ti-Nb-Zr alloys will be studied as a function of the temperature, for distinct alloys compositions, by the mechanical spectroscopy technique, based on flexural vibrations. The elastic modulus of the alloy is an important property with possible biomaterial applications. The technique which will be used in this project is mechanical spectroscopy (internal friction and resonance frequency) as a function of the temperature, using the acoustic elastomer device (Proc. 01/14992-8/FAPESP).(AU)
