Abstract

This study has as object the political thought of Seneca in his relation to Stoic moral philosophy. Our hypothesis is that the construction of the notion of political power in Seneca is through the link between two key figures of his thought, that is, the sage and the prince. This means that for the Roman author, the moral education is intrinsically linked to the proper exercise of political power. The sources of our analysis are properly philosophical texts of Seneca, with special attention to the clemency, as well as some of his theater pieces.
