Abstract

This research focuses on the tensions between the work of the actor and the work of the performer. It has been developed so far through three stages, two of them occurred in Brazil and one in New York City - The Graduate Center - CUNY. After elaborating the information collected and the experiences lived since the beginning of this research, I managed to define a year ago the first version of its general structure, and from that moment onward a consistent material has been produced. Once concluded these stages, my objective today is that of deepening further my investigations and in this respect I realized that the dialogue with an experienced researcher who develops similar investigations to mine can represent a precious possibility. After reflecting on this possibility, I recognized in the investigations developed by Prof. Fischer-Lichte, one of the most important researchers nowadays in my field, a fertile territory of stimuli and interlocution. In fact, her publications, among them "The Transformative Power of Performance" (London and New York: Routledge, 2007), represent evidences in this sense. As a result, I contacted Prof. Fischer-Lichte, who demonstrated prompt interest in being the advisor of this stage of my research. This acceptance represents a unique possibility of unfolding and deepening my research. Besides, such opportunity can also allow a significant personal development as a researcher as well as an artist. (AU)
