Abstract

This research project proposes a study of the peculiarities of the Brazilian case of management of refugees groups. It has the general objective of describing and analyzing the dynamics of care and support to those refugees located in São Paulo, from the work done by Cáritas Arquidiocesana de São Paulo, Catholic NGO attached to the network Caritas Internationalis, that develops and finances humanitarian and social development projects all over the world. Rather than address the issue of refuge itself, is expected to examine a particular form of management of a population, that in Brazil has the specificity of be done almost strictly by civil society organizations. The work will be done through the analysis of publications of the three main instances of assistance to the refugee population in the country, UNHCR, CONARE and Cáritas, and an ethnographic work in the headquarters of the NGO and in the Centro de Acolhida para Refugiados which it coordinates.
