Abstract

This project, linked to CNPQ Research Group "Grammar of Portuguese Usage", coordinated by the tutor, will analyze and discuss, from the perspective of enunciative relations, the role of phoric pronouns of different nature collected from Brazilian Portuguese data. From a functionalist perspective that uses Text Linguistics and Cognitive Linguistics , this project studies language in a discursive-textual grammatical view of grammar. The main concern of the analysis will be the referential chain in the text, studied from the perspective of the triadic categories of enunciation. The specific objectives are to verify and interpret: a) different schemes of grammatical filling in which the textual reference operates; b) possible inter-relation between personal and demonstrative references, aiming at the fuzzy nature of apparently fixed references; c) relationship between ways to fill in grammatical phrases and ways to create and maintain the referential chain; d) the enuncive-enunciative balance built on this chain according textual types taken from Brazilian novels from three different periods; e) creation of rhetoric effects, connected to the way of filling the reference phrases . The procedures include: a) the building of pertinent factors for the configuration of each endophoric situation; b ) interpretation of the functioning of phoric words v.g. manner of speech, relationship with the inflormation flux and determination of discoursive categories.
