Abstract

Nowadays, no study on the population structure of the depth-codling, Urophycis mystacea, in Brazilian area, an important tool for management was conducted. This study, analyzing the distribution of fish lengths caught along the outer continental shelf and upper slope of the south-southeastern Brazilian region, the analysis of qualitative and quantitative morphological characteristics of the sagittae otoliths and its isotopic signatures (stable isotopes C13 and O16) will evaluate the homogeneity of the stock, which is an important fishery resource in this area.
