Abstract

The giardiasis, caused by the protozoa Giardia Lamblia, is one of the intestinal disease with the major incidence in the world. The parasite colonizes the small intestine of mamalian and the infection is caracterized by diarrhea. The interaction trophozoite-cell changes both the morfology and the function of the tissue. The tight junctions of the epithelial cells are broken during the infection, leading a hypersecretion of electrolytes. Little is known about the signalization pathways and proteins changed in the giardiasis. This project wants to relacionate the fosforilation profile of TJ proteins, especificly claudins, with the rupture of tight junctions and the establishment of giardiasis.
