Abstract

This research to be developed at the Geoenvironmental Analysis Master of Science Course of Guarulhos University, aims to understand the history of occupation and geoenvironmental modifications in the Cabuçu region, Guarulhos municipality, São Paulo State, Brazil. Those modifications correspond to the geoenvironmental processes such as erosion and landslides, and environmental conflicts of land use with current legislation. The development of this research considers as benchmarks geoenvironmental problems of inappropriate urban growth in suburbs of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo and the geotechnogenic approach that considers man as a geological agent. Materials and methods will be applied in order to characterize the relationships between the physical environment of the region and the history of occupation, expressed by geoenvironmental processes. The results to be obtained may contribute to the consolidation of the Environmental Protection Area Cabuçu - Tanque Grande created in the municipality as a result of a research supported by FAPESP.
