Abstract

From the roles attributed to the investment banks in the banking division of labor installed with the Banking Reform 1964/65, we will investigate the evolution of the topology and functioning of these financial institutions in the country. For this purpose, we consider the factors on the development of material base of the territory, as well as the content from the instruments of legislation that govern these actions.We identify the investment banks as one of the main agents that functionalize the capitalist mode of production in the context of Brazilian territory. To achieve understanding the topology that governs the installation of these geographical fixes on national space, we not only seek to highlight the elements of the larger whole, linked to the contemporary mode of production, but also the productive attributes of our specific sociospatial-training.Created with the aforementioned Banking Reform, these banks came up with the demand for long-term financing of fixed capital and working capital, especially for large companies. Since then, investment banks have suffered substantial changes in its operation, its distribution in the territory and the total number of institutions. These are the questions that this research project seeks to elucidate.
