Abstract

Officialized in 2000 and distinguished themselves as one of the most important events in the international development agenda for the early 21st century, the Millennium Development Goals, organized by the United Nations, is a bold attempt to reduce social and economic disparities in all countries until the year 2015. Consisting of eight goals, seven of which mainly involve the commitment of developing countries, and the eighth goal that stands out requiring a greater commitment from developed countries. It is proposed, a case study to be conducted in three countries in Latin America and the Caribbean - Brazil, Cuba and Mexico. The Target 8.E eighth Goal, which is about access to essential medicines in developing countries, will be the subject of this research. It is intended to identify local initiatives encouraged by the promulgation of the goals, building up a comparative panorama of its development and deployment in these different countries. (AU)
