Abstract

The present investigation aims at evaluating the effect of precues on postural perturbation (rotation of a support platform) on the control of upright stance in the elderly, in comparison with young counterparts. Postural responses will be evaluated through the center of pressure of the soles of the feet and electromyography of anterior and posterior leg muscles. The hypothesis is that the elderly are more benefited from preceding in comparison with young individuals due to increased engagement of attention to postural control in the elderly.(AU)
