Abstract We have as aim in this project study, in a systematic way, the Generalized Scalar Electrodynamics (GSQED4) from three distinguished outlooks: functional methods, Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau theory (DKP) and Causal Perturbation Theory (CPT). First, we will analyze the effect of the Podolsky term: into the Hamiltonian structure and, by functional methods, at T = 0 and T /= 0, into the Green s functions at tree and also at 1-loop level; next, we will investigate the DKP theory, also with the addiction of the Podolsky term, and study its equivalence with the GSQED4 atT = 0. Afterwards, we will formulate the GSQED4, also at T = 0, in the causal perturbation theory framework, which is ultraviolet finite, of the S-matrix from Stückelberg-Bogoliubov-Shirkov-Epstein-Glaser; and, thus, proving the normalizability, gauge invariance and unitarity of the theory.
