Abstract

Genetic algorithms are global optimization methods inspired on the evolution theory. The idea of this project is to apply these techniques to the laser pulse optimization aiming at controlling the dynamics of diatomic molecules. In order to represent a diatom under the action of a laser we consider the classical driven Morse oscillator model. Thus, we intend to control several molecular processes, such as vibrational excitation, photodissociation and photoassociation. (AU)
