Abstract

Currently, Project Management (PM) is increasingly seen as necessary to the success of a project, i.e. the achievement of the objectives of a project on schedule and on budget. In this context, the PMBOK® Guide, developed by the Project Management Institute (PMI), appears as the main guideline and source of information for project managers. More recently, with the launch of the book Critical Chain by the father of the Theory of Constraints (TOC), Eliyahu Goldratt, was presented a new approach to GP called Critical Chain Project Management - CCPM, whose premises are the same adopted by other techniques based on TOC. This article, by reviewing the literature on GP, CCPM and the PMBOK ® Guide and interviews with experts in these approaches, aims to identify synergistic and antagonistic between CCPM and the techniques belong to the PMI's Guide, opening avenues for future research may find ways to integrate both approaches.
