Abstract

Due to uncontrolled population growth and the differing customs of the population, it is necessary to search for food to meet the needs of the same. Thus, belongs to a range of wild animals the mocó (Kerodon rupestris), mammal and rodent, kept in captivity for maintenance of the species, besides being a livestock animal with considerable potential. Currently, many studies of non-domestic animals have been developed, but there is a paucity of literature data on the reproductive anatomy of male cavies. Investigations into the body and testicular biometry of mammals are important on the point of view of various aspects of reproduction, as well as knowledge of the ultrastructure of the reproductive system of males. Fixation will be used six animals, removed the testicles and testicular biometric measurements made. Fragments of the testis and sperm follow the protocol via routine scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for the ultrastructural characterization. Is it possible to analyze the behavior of the germinal epithelium during the development of spermatogenesis and thus provide a basis for better understanding of testicular function and reproductive physiology of wild rodents. Considering the importance of reproduction and maintenance of the species Kerodon rupestris, the objective of this study is to characterize the ultrastructure of sperm of the pathway components mocó testicular biometric parameters associated with these animals.(AU)
