Abstract

The Cerrado in its broad sense has many faces that include training grasslands, savanna, and forest. These types of formations are associated with an interaction of factors, mainly climate and soil. The frequency of fires, natural or manmade, is also recognized as an ecological factor related to this change of countenance. Recently, studies have shown that protection against fire in savanna grassland formations favors the development of the most characteristic tree species of cerradão and seasonal forest. It is questionable, whether the disturbance of vegetation with forest physiognomy, through the regular felling of the tree component of the cerradão, would favor the reverse process, including the installation of more common species in the savanna. The proposed work aims to verify, by comparing three floristic areas of cerradão, with no indication of recent troubles, and the other two, where the cut occurs annually if the latter species composition is closer to that of the campo Cerrado in the first.(AU)
