Abstract

This research project aims to investigate theatrical options used by the dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch in the composition of one of her works: "Sweet Mambo" (2008). To this end, the research will be divided into three parts: at first, the objective is to conduct a historical survey of the rise of Tanztheater in Germany - the country of origin of this form of artistic expression. The second part of the research intends to improve and focus the studies on the one work by choreographer Pina Bausch, and investigate some theatrical elements and principles used by the choreographer in the composition and performance of her Tanztheater plays. Finally, the third and final stage of the research is the development of a scenic theater choreographic composition resulting from the material studied and observed. To perform the practical part of the research, I began to integrate the Laboratory for Research and Studies in Tanztheater (LAPETT - research group simplified by the acronym), coordinated by Prof.. Dr. Sayonara Pereira, also guiding this project. The LAPETT is based at the Department of Performing Arts of the School of Communications and Arts at USP (CAC / ECA / USP), and among its proposals is theoretical and practical research in dialogue with embodied practice and research in movements infused into Tanztheater esthetics.
