Abstract

This research project aims to understand a fundamental aspect of the literary tradition from Minas Gerais extremely importance for the elucidation of development of modernity in Brazilian literature: the relationship between various authors - Carlos Manuel da Costa, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Guimarães Rosa e Affonso Ávila, por exemplo - with the Baroque culture spread throughout the Iberian world from the sixteenth century as part of the civilizing process. It is intended to investigate the process of fostering this culture, their productivity in the work of an architectural-sculptural Aleijadinho and especially its incorporation and expression by the work of Cláudio Manuel da Costa, where three images unfold prevalently baroque, in which the subject reveals implicated: enclosure, rebellion and exile. It is intended to analyze, from a recurrence of these images, the social form, policy form and culture form of neoclassical works, symbolist, modernist, avant-garde and contemporary literature mining, seeking to demonstrate how, at different times, different authors "respond" to common questions, typical of the same place the source of the idea of the Brazilian nation.
