Abstract

Learning in surgery is a multifactorial process, with a high level of complexity and is dependent on several factors: the teacher, the methods, and the student. The first is responsible for passing on knowledge, the second is the means by which knowledge is transferred, and the latter represents the target process. Little is reported about the third factor of the triad of surgical teaching: students. The correlation between the frequent practice of some specific activities and intraoperative behavioral characteristics of some individuals related to better surgical performance is documented but is a poor combination of intrinsic characteristics of individuals with their performance in surgery, especially those in free practice surgery. This study has focused on the student in the learning process, by assessing individuals without surgical practice for their performance on tests of motor skill performance and relating this to the results of surgical procedures videolaparoscope, seeking a possible link between motor skill performance and surgical.(AU)
