Abstract

The present work aims at developing a methodology applicable to the study of the dynamic of linear erosion processes occurring in peri-urban areas aiming at the current diagnosis to generate subsidies for recovery projects. Was chosen as a case study a sector on the periphery of the urban area of São Pedro city (SP) in which are inserted the headwaters of drainage of the stream Tucum, area characterized by the occurrence of linear erosion forms, with different stages of evolution. The research will build on the General Theory of Systems applied to Geography and the techniques used involve the quantification of hidrogeomorphological and antropogenic variables. The data will be obtained experimentally in the field and undergoing GIS treatment this will provide an integrated analysis of the phenomena. Additionally will be deployed containment devices at predetermined points of erosive forms using bioengineering techniques aiming to evaluating the effectiveness of such devices and the evolutive response of erosion processes. It has been hypothesized that specific techniques of geomorphology can be applied in the context of areas subjected to human interventions contributing to understanding of the processes in these areas. It is considered that the development of a diagnosis by a specific set of procedures can generate subsides to plans erosive containment and recovery for other degraded areas that present the same problem in question.
