Abstract

The purpose of the present project is to study the basic properties of spin-dependent electron transport. Initially, results well established in the literature will be reproduced by different numerical methods. Afterward, the student will investigate the electronic transport through a potential that can induce a spin-flip. The results obtained from this investigation will be useful as the basis for proposals for spintronic devices, which use electron spin as an additional tool for usual electronics.(AU)
