Abstract Large number of studies have shown that university entrance may be a period of vulnerability to students, which would result in a potentiation of alcohol and other drugs. Many studies point to the university population as the largest consumers of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs, which underscores the need for more research aimed at the development of prevention and preparation of specific policies aimed at this segment. This study aims to determine the prevalence of psychoactive drug use among college students and to investigate their association with social support networks. These networks, as well as become a way to intervene in the life of the individual and in society, would provide emotional support, information, material and affective against certain situations of stress or crisis period. To meet the objectives of the research will be conducted epidemiological study of substance use among college students in the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters, Universidade Estadual Paulista, Campus Assisi, according to the methodology used by CEBRID (Brazilian Information Center on Psychotropic Drugs) UNIFESP (Galduroz, 2005) and application of the Social Support Scale Pro-Health Study validated in Brazil by Griep et al. (2005). | |
