Abstract

This project aims to contribute to the discussion of social-spatial inequalities on the intra-urban scale, as central to understanding the processes of urban production space. Using the methodology previously developed by CEMESPP (Center for Studies and Mapping Social Exclusion for Public Policy) privileges here reading a relational, multidimensional, and "pluriescalar" processes of social exclusion/inclusion for the reading and interpretation of inequalities in different natures present in urban space, by drawing the map of social exclusion/inclusion of Presidente Prudente - SP. Based on 2010 Census data from IBGE. Such a map, a synthesis of methodological procedures that pass through the theoretical discussion of the concept of social exclusion, the selection of variables, construction of indicators, and their georeferenced cartographic representation, constitutes in itself a product of the research in that it can be contrasted and compared with that map of social exclusion/inclusion 2000 based on data from the 2000 Census of IBGE. This comparison is in terms of temporal evolution between 2000 and 2010, is the point of view of spatial cuts that favor the relative changes between census tracts, neighborhoods, and city areas will not only exercise a strict construction of the methodological procedures suitable for comparative analysis, but also the questioning of changes and continuities in regard to production and reproduction of socio-spatial inequalities in urban areas, not just the city under review, also may be generalized to others.(AU)
