Abstract

With the present work, this study focuses on the development axis linking Jaboticabal, Ribeirão Preto, and Sertãozinho, as well as relations between these cities in relation to economic and territorial aspects of the crop industry. Sertãozinho has great importance for the agribusiness sector, which has a number of manufacturers of parts and equipment for agro-industries facing sugarcane production, creating a unique space in the entire region of Ribeirão Preto, and have exported in the 2010/2011 season, U.S. $ FOB 256,283,389 raw cane sugar and $FOB 44,317,563 in ethyl alcohol. Therefore, it is important to study this axis and its fluxes, analyze the industries located on this axis and that influence, correlate the historical context with the road works that contributed to the formation of this axis, trace the relations between Ribeirão Preto, Jaboticabal e Sertãozinho and analyze the specific assets and public policies in different scales and based on the history of industrialization confirm that the industrial development of this region is linked to the devolution that has occurred in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. For this, we propose to examine some key concepts for discussion, such as the axis of development, industrial decentralization, fluxes, and territory.(AU)
