Abstract

The nocturnal enuresis is characterized by voluntary or involuntary urination on the bed or on the clothes, during the sleeping period, FROM five years old. It's estimated that it reaches 15% to 22% of the boys and 7% to 15% of the girls at the age of seven and a half. Enuresis is caused by a combination of factors, including nocturnal polyuria, detrusor overactivity, and the inability to wake in reaction to the signs of a full bladder. The alarm is one of the more effective treatments for the problem, reaching about 65% of success, with a 10% rate of relapse. However, there isn't total clarity about the etiology of enuresis, the mechanisms of the main treatments are also not fully elucidated. This project has the general purpose of identifying the relationship between the treatment's results with alarm and a psychological variable(behavior problems) and a physiological variable (volumetric capacity of the bladder). For this, it is proposed to do a study with 30 participants with enuresis, relating the result of the treatment with the variables mentioned. It is expected that the results provide data that clarify the functional mechanisms of the treatment with alarm.(AU)
