Abstract

The wrist and hand are complex structures vulnerable to injury. Ensuring an accurate and complete assessment is essential to establish adequate treatment and prevent the onset of functional difficulties. The assessment of the range of motion (ROM) helps therapists to elaborate a diagnosis, guide the rehabilitation and perform the necessary adjustments during the course of the treatment. The flexible electrogoniometer has been used to measure the freedom of movement of some joints, but it has yet not been adapted to evaluate the wrist. Thus, the aim of this study is to analyze the intra and inter rater reliability of the electrogoniometry in relation to the goniometer at the wrist, comparing the angles of flexion, extension, radial and ulnar deviation.
