Abstract

AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome), comes from the appearance of both disorders in the musculoskeletal system and systemic infection caused by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The muscle and joint pain (arthralgias and myalgias) are the main musculoskeletal manifestations present in patients infected with HIV. Currently, they have the vision to investigate the contribution of the physical, biological and psychosocial variables development of musculoskeletal disorders in patients with HIV, often correlating these variables with the manifestation of symptoms. The objective of this study is to understand the effects of HIV type 1 in the functioning of the masticatory muscles and functional addition to the systemic character, through the comparison of specific evaluative techniques in patients not carrying the virus. Will be selected 60 volunteers of both genders, aged between 20 and 40 years, divided into two groups: Group 1 (G1), 30 volunteers with HIV type 1 patients of the Unidade Especial de Tratamento em Doenças Infecciosas (UETDI) of the Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto-USP, Group 2 (G2), 30 volunteers not suffering from HIV-1, the community of Ribeirão Preto and region. Volunteers will be subject to assessments of masticatory muscle activity and functional lower limbs, bite force, masticatory muscle thickness, kinematic and functional chewing movement of the lower limbs, postural photogrammetry and the center of gravity, the medial longitudinal arch, peak expiratory flow and inspiratory and expiratory muscle strength. The data will be statistically analyzed by t test with the aid of SPSS version 19.0.
