Abstract

This project deals with quantum information and it is concerned with the study of entanglement purification protocols and their relation to quantum correcting codes. During the development of this work, fundamental concepts as generalized measurements and operations will be thoroughly treated, allowing the student to learn the basic tools needed to understand problems related to entanglement quantification, manipulation and application. The final goal is the application of this knowledge to the theory of quantum communication, where the procedure to obtain quantum correcting codes from entanglement purification protocols will be studied.
