Abstract

This project is part of transposition process of the FAPESP's master fellowship, "An electronic baropodometer implementation and new methodology for assessing the risk of fall of hemiplegic patients" process nº 2010/04767-6 for a directly Ph.D. fellowship. The purpose of the change is the development of a device with low cost sensors using the finite element method to determine the force distribution in the plantar region of patients. A new methodology will be developed to assess the risk of falls in hemiplegic patients, using the implemented equipment and Berg's Scale as a reference method. The new device will be able to determine the center of pressure of an individual and plantar pressure distribution, allowing to investigate the conditions studied in Podiatry, Posturology, Podoposturology and also enabling more suitable methods for treating patients.
