Abstract

The present research is part of a course of actions taken by CEDOC (Documentation Center of Science Teaching at College of Education in Unicamp) aiming to establish the level of awareness of Brazilian educational research in the field of Education in Science. The intention is to discuss characteristics and trends of the theses and dissertations defended in Brazil between 1972 and 2011, about teaching Science on the initial years of elementary school, more specifically researches which dealt with school practices at this level, identifying the innovations implemented and the conditions of production which directed the development of these actions. The central question of this study is: "Which pedagogical innovations occurred in intervention research about school practices in Science on the initial years of elementary school and which were the conditions of the production of these innovations?" The work is characterized as a state of the art research in which we will do the identification, selection and recovery of documents and analysis of works according to pre-established descriptions and regulations and categories of analysis. Our aims are: to identify and put into question the contributions of proposals for innovations presented in intervention researches for school practices in Science in the initial years of elementary school; intensify the analysis of the academic production, indentifying the production conditions which lead to the development of these innovations; contribute for the identification of trends, improvements and gaps on the production, pointing solutions and suggestions for future interventions on the school practice in the educational context studied.
