Abstract

This research project aims to understand the relationship between scientific production in Archaeology and the government designated as the Estado Novo dictatorship, both in Brazil, and in Portugal. It will focus particularity on the scientific research of the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro and the Brazilian Historical and Geographical Institute, based in the same state, and the Museum of Ethnography of Lisbon and Institute of Scientific Research of Porto, in the period between 1926 and 1945. In the theoretical universe of the Anthropology of Science will seek to demarcate networks of this scientific production, understanding the specific social and political context in which it develops. Search will also investigate the conditions of production of science in analysis in order to realize its own production process. Finally, it will seek to compare different networks established within the two political systems in question in its relation with its archaeological production in order to demarcate the similarities and differences between these two contexts.
