Abstract

Adult cardiomyocytes, right after birth, exit cell cycle and as consequence heart repair after an injury is performed by non-contractile fibrotic tissue. This phenomenon is associated with the genesis of heart failure and is one of the most frequent causes of death in worldwide population. Therefore, there is great interest in studies that aim proper and efficient heart regeneration. Recent evidences show cardiac cells turnover, even though in low rates (2% to 0,5%/year) and complete heart regeneration in neonatal mice after apex resection. It is important to note that this phenomenon was shown to be limited in the first 24 hours after birth, which leads the search to answer the question: why do mammals' cardiomyocytes lose their proliferative capacity right after birth? According to this, this present work aim to validate this model study in rats and to identify biochemical pathways associated to this process. It is essential to note that the method proposed here will allow the identification of differential patterns of protein expression printed in the heart tissue during the progression of heart regeneration process, through histomolecular images. The perspective of this prospection is to identify new therapeutic targets related to heart repair in adult rats.
