Abstract

The purpose of this work is to develop a methodology for obtaining vacuum residue (product of vacuum distillation) from the molecular distillation process. The proposed work as well as being a new technology, it presents an alternative to distillation process applied in refinery, since to intend obtaining a residue with characteristics closer to that obtained in refinery. Besides, it is important to note that through the Molecular Distillation process is purposed to get the TBP curve for the same product from the refinery (vacuum residue). Also noteworthy the approach of this work in defining operational conditions for the Molecular Distillation process in order to reduce the sulfur tenor in distillate streams obtained aiming to make the molecular distillation process (pilot scale and in the future due to scale up scale industrial) viable regarding the conventional ones. This implies in gain operational and cost making the purpose very interesting in industrial, economic and environmental aspects.
