Abstract

This paper proposes a discussion about the presence of the fantastic literature in the narrative of Guy de Maupassant. An eminent writer from 19 century that was situated in a fin-de-siècle and decisive period for the human development in all aspects of knowledge (social, economic and philosophical). This moment, made the human in crisis to face the new limits established. Maupassant's work deals with such elements, performing through the language, the doubt, the uncertainty in a way that the unconscious is presented as decisive element. Therefore, the present paper intends to reflect about the fantastic production of the French author under the orientation of Freud's theory and the unconscious, and the authors that discuss the confluences between the literature and the psychoanalysis.
