Abstract

The genus Dargida Walker, 1856 (Noctuidae: Hadeninae) haves 53 described species, with continuous geographic distribution from Canada to Chile. Exist many gaps on the distribution of moths in the Neotropics and taxonomic problems that need to be turned over to the knowledge of the group that includes species of economic importance. The project objectives are to test the monophyly of Dargida, to revise their species and to study the relationships among them based on morphological characters. Understand the patterns of diversification of the genera and the use of host plants is essential for the development of control programs of pest species. (AU)
