Abstract

The tectonic significance of the high-pressure rocks occurrences, especially the blueschist facies, as markers of ancient subduction zones and or collision of tectonic plates has generated greatly interest among geoscientists in recent decades. However, only with the advances in analytical methods for determining the chemical composition of minerals and their application in geothermobarometric studies and the consequent definition of the P-T-t-d paths (pressure-temperature-time-deformation), have been possible development and refinement of tectonic models and crustal evolution responsible for the generation of exotic rock types. These petrogenetic have proved important for understanding the geodynamic processes in convergent boundaries of tectonic plates and the thermal evolution of the Earth, and the resetting of isotherms in the geological past. This research project is to request a BEPE grant aims to continue the studies of the candidate on the high-pressure rocks of Jambaló region, in the Colombian Andes. The use of tools laid out in the most current project, for example, the pseudo-sections aimed at establishing the conditions of pressure (P) and temperature (T), with emphasis on metamorphic rocks of high-pressure/low-temperature (blueschist) which were submitted during their formation. These studies also seek to determine or suggest the correlation of these rocks with one or more events of high-pressure lithotypes generation, as well as the associated rocks. (AU)
