Abstract The aim of this research is to develop a paper box for marketing, transport and release of parasitoid Cotesia flavipes, in relation to the current packaging, it more efficiently so that the parasitoid has good development, is less expensive and, moreover, completely biodegradable. It will be compared with the development of C. flavipes in packaging currently used for packaging, transport and release of parasitoids (biodegradable plastic cups and glasses) with the boxes made with paper and biodegradable plastic. It will be checked parasitism of C. flavipes released in the field with different packages and they degrade in the field of packaging, cost of packaging, and the quality of the parasitoids after transport. If biodegradable boxes provide good development of the parasitoids, has rapid degradation in the field, is economically viable and easy to use will be held the patent for this new package. And finally, the last step would be the feasibility of large-scale production of biodegradable boxes to meet the demand of the Brazilian producing biofactories massalmente C. flavipes. | |
