Abstract

Habitats tend to be selected by individuals of different species in order to increase their fitness according to multiple ecology and behaviors factors, such as environment structure, foraging cost, competition, and dispersion. Understanding of the environmental features that favor the occurrence of certain species to detriment of other species is important because it generates basic information for the comprehension of the patterns of distribution and abundance of populations. Thereby, the major aims of this study were to evaluate the patterns of the spatial distribution of three species of Pseudopaludicola and to verify what environmental variables best explain the species occurrence and abundance. Following these objectives, will be characterized and sampled at least 40 water bodies in northwest São Paulo. The Pseudopaludicola species occurrence will be verified and it will be auditorily estimated the abundance of males in reproductive activity. The water bodies will be characterized according to landscape features (five variables), structural features (13 variables), and physicochemical properties of water (five variables). The influence of each feature of the three sets of variables in the Pseudopaludicola specie's spatial distribution will be evaluated using the Generalized Linear Model. After obtaining the best predictive model of the specie's abundance distribution, the influence of each variable existent in the model will be evaluated using the Hierarchical Partitioning analysis.(AU)
