Abstract

The waste generated by cities is true potential sources of not used raw materials. The improper disposal of waste materials may cause major damage to the quality of life; therefore, the proper disposal of them has been the subject of much research. The study of the physico-chemical characteristics and also the study of properties of the different types of waste is necessary, because such information will give conditions for the selection of their possible uses. Many studies are made on civil construction applications, aiming to a dosage of concrete, producing ceramics, among others. This project intends to evaluate the ash of sewage sludge and characterize their chemical and crystallographic properties, with a view to their subsequent use in construction, thus an appropriate target for this waste. To do so, tests must be performed by analysis of X-ray diffraction and absorption spectroscopy. (AU)
